Our Beliefs

Our Beliefs

Rooted in Scripture. Grounded in the Reformed Faith.

Our teaching and ministry are governed by the Word of God and shaped by the historic Christian and Reformed faith.

Biblical Truth for the Life and Ministry of the Church

We believe that Scripture is the inspired, authoritative and sufficient Word of God. We therefore seek to teach the whole counsel of God faithfully, equipping believers to know Christ, serve His church and proclaim His gospel.

The Westminster Confession of Faith

Cornerstone Bible College receives the Westminster Confession of Faith as its statement of faith and as a faithful summary of the system of doctrine taught in Holy Scripture.

Together with the Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms, it expresses the historic Reformed faith that shapes our teaching, worship and ministry.

Scripture alone is our supreme and final authority. The Westminster Standards serve under Scripture as a faithful confession of biblical doctrine.

Confessional Reformed Theology

Our theological education stands consciously within the historic Westminster tradition while recognising Holy Scripture as the church’s supreme authority.

What Shapes Our Teaching

These convictions summarise some of the biblical truths that stand at the heart of our theological education.

01

The Authority of Scripture

The Bible is the inspired Word of God and our final authority for faith, doctrine and life.

02

The Triune God

There is one true and living God who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

03

The Sovereignty of God

God sovereignly rules over all creation and graciously accomplishes His purposes according to His perfect will.

04

Salvation by Grace

Salvation is entirely by the grace of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, and not through human merit or works.

05

Christ at the Centre

Jesus Christ is the only Mediator between God and man, and His person and saving work stand at the centre of Scripture.

06

The Church and Its Mission

Christ gathers and builds His church through His Word and Spirit and sends His people to make disciples of all nations.

Heidelberg Catechism

Theology for the Heart as Well as the Mind

The Heidelberg Catechism has served generations of Christians as a clear, warm and deeply pastoral explanation of the Reformed faith. Its teaching continually brings Christian doctrine back to the believer’s life in Christ.

We value the Heidelberg Catechism as a rich resource for teaching, discipleship and pastoral formation alongside our confessional commitment to the Westminster Standards.

Read the Heidelberg Catechism
He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.
